Bengaluru

The Regional Office in Bengaluru was established in 1975, with the mandate to execute the Council’s objectives and give effect to its Vision and Mission, as enumerated on ICCR’s home-page, in the State of Karnataka. To this end, this Regional Office organizes, in collaboration with the State Government and other stake-holders, a cultural programme every Friday evening, better known by its acronym of EFCEP, with a view to promote young, budding and talented artists, by offering them a platform to perform on. This programme has run successfully for over 32 years. EFCEP is organized in collaboration with and the active support of the State Government and an NGO. Under the Council’s ‘Horizon’ series, the Regional Office organizes, in collaboration with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, the National Gallery of Modern Art and other stake-holders, on the second Saturday of every month, a programme in which senior empanelled artists give sterling performances. The purpose is to afford an opportunity to the region-based artists empanelled by ICCR, whom ICCR has been unable to sponsor for a performance abroad for participation in an international festival or an exclusive festival of India or under bilateral cultural exchange programmes. This also enables this Regional Office to assess their suitability for deputation abroad. Both these events have received much critical acclaim, appreciation and accolades. All upcoming events under both these series, as also other events supported or patronized by us, are posted on our Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/iccr.bengaluru). The Regional Office of ICCR, also regularly tweets on matters of interest and concern to art-lovers, particularly international students supported by our scholarships. The twitter handle is @ ICCRROBENGALURU. It is pertinent to say here that the mainstay of this Regional office is the administration of scholarships awarded by the Government of India, to international students, under a plethora of schemes. More than 650 of an estimated 20000 foreign students studying in the State are beneficiaries of such scholarships.
