Outgoing Cultural Delegations

The Council’s primary mandate is to promote international understanding through culture. To achieve this, ICCR sponsors Indian citizens for its outgoing cultural delegation programme. It presents exceptional Indian performing artists and groups, offering audiences a glimpse into the rich diversity of India’s artistic heritage—ranging from classical and folk traditions to theatre, contemporary dance, and music.

These cultural delegations travel both within the framework of India’s Cultural Exchange Programmes and beyond, ensuring a widespread global reach. Over the past six decades, artists from every corner of India have journeyed abroad, sharing their craft and enriching cross-cultural dialogue. ICCR has facilitated thousands of such tours, in addition to organizing Cultural Weeks and Festivals dedicated to specific nations and regions.

In recent years, an average of over 160 groups and many Indian Artists have traveled internationally, showcasing the depth and diversity of India’s rich culture. The Council takes great pride in having sent legendary Masters, eminent artists, and promising young talent to the global stage—an enduring testament to India's civilisational belief in “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” (The world is one family).
