Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Colombo, is an Indian Cultural Centre of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), established in 1998 under the aegis of the High Commission of India. It works to build bridges of cultural exchange and strengthen mutual understanding between India and Sri Lanka through people-to-people contact and awareness of Indian culture in all its facets.
Classes & Training
Offers classes in Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Hindustani & Carnatic Vocal, Violin, Sitar, Tabla, Hindi and Yoga, with nearly 1500 students enrolled across its various classes.
Cultural Activities
Organises programmes, visual art exhibitions, seminars, workshops, lecture demonstrations, food festivals and outreach programmes with ICCR scholars, experts and artists.
Auditorium & Screenings
Features a 120-seat auditorium for in-house events and regular screenings of Indian films and documentaries.
Library & Resources
Maintains a library with over 4500 titles, an online database, reading room, journals, newspapers, periodicals, CDs and DVDs.
Smart Classrooms & Lab
Equipped with smart classrooms, a state-of-the-art Language Lab for teaching Hindi, and a modern dance studio.
Satellite & Exhibition Space
Provides a space for exhibiting art works and satellite TV channels for updates on current events in India and Indian culture.
