The Tagore Centre — named after Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore — is a hub for Indian culture in the heart of Berlin, with over 20 years of showcasing India's cultural heritage in Germany. Inaugurated on 5th February 1994 by Prime Minister Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao, the Centre is committed to fostering and strengthening cultural relations between India and Germany.
Auditorium & Gallery
A modern auditorium hosting dignitaries, celebrated artists, authors and internationally acclaimed scholars from India and Europe. The foyer serves as an exhibition space for contemporary artists.
Prestigious Awards
Manages two prestigious ICCR awards — the Gisela Bonn Award and the Saraswati Sanskrit Prize — recognising outstanding contributions to India-Germany cultural ties.
India Studies & Chairs
Three ICCR-sponsored long-term India Studies Chairs at Göttingen, Heidelberg and Leipzig. Five additional short-term chairs implemented annually at prominent German universities.
Dr. Zakir Husain Library
Rich collection of books by Indian leaders, writers, philosophers and historians. Core collection includes works by Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Rabindranath Tagore on Indian arts, culture, history and philosophy.
