The Indian Cultural Centre in Male is a Cultural Centre of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) of India. It was formally inaugurated on 28th July’ 2011. Since its inception, the Centre has won the hearts of many Maldivians, by delivering the substance in a unique style. The Cultural Centre is undertaking all efforts to sustain the tempo of its regular activities for the benefit of Maldivians.
The Centre promotes bilateral cultural linkages and awareness between India and Maldives by organizing cultural programmes, cultural seminars, workshops and trainings engaging India based Gurus professionals and trainers for Yoga, Urdu Language and in performing Arts such as; Indian Classical Vocal Music and dances. It also organizes cultural events by local Maldivian artists/students, as well as visiting Indian delegations. ICC also organizes exhibitions, lectures by eminent personalities both from India and Maldives.
The Centre is the nodal point for processing ICCR’s funded scholarships to meritorious Maldivian students for pursuing Undergraduate, Post graduate, M.Phil and PhD. courses, as well as other technical courses in reputed Indian universities/institutes.
