The Cultural Centre of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations of India was established in September 2016 in Hanoi. The centre was inaugurated on 20th April 2017 by MoS for External Affairs, Gen. V.K. Singh and the Deputy/Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thien. The cultural centre was renamed by MEA as Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center (SVCC) in August 2018, to mark the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's famous Chicago speech in 1893.
SVCC has nurtured relationship with Vietnamese people to strengthen cooperation with local organizations including Indian Studies institutes, Universities, National Library of Vietnam and regional/national friendship associations through outreach events like arranging seminars and exhibitions on stunning aspects of Indian culture.
To commemorate the 150 birth anniversary year of Mahatma Gandhiji, ICCR has made arrangements to send Gandhiji's bust, which was inaugurated by Honorable External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj in August 2018 — it has since become an attraction for travelers and Vietnamese nationals.
Da Nang Cham Museum of Cham sculpture is dedicated to Hindu Buddhist sculpture and architecture found in Vietnam. Myson sanctuary — the most sacred place for people of the Champa kingdom — has over 70 structures of brick and stone, most of which were dedicated to Shiva. They are gradually catching the attention of the global community and researchers.
