Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture

The Indian Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan was established in 1995 and renamed as the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture (LBSCIC) in March 2005. The Centre organizes major cultural programmes in Tashkent during Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations of India.
Classes & Training
Regular Kathak Dance, Yoga and Tabla classes. Outreach visits to different provinces to organize joint cultural programmes with local communities.
Weekly Programmes
Over 40 weekly programmes a year including dance & music concerts, art exhibitions, public lectures, seminars, film screenings in Hindi and English.
Library & Reading Room
Well-equipped library with books on India in English, Hindi, Russian and Uzbek, along with all major Indian newspapers and magazines.
Youth Competitions
Quiz competitions on Indian subjects, Indian song singing, Hindi poetry recitation, and essay writing in English and Hindi on Indian themes.
Hindi Promotion
Regular Hindi classes, symposia and competitions. Two students sent annually for Hindi training to the Central Institute of Hindi, Agra. ICCR scholarship slots filled every year.
India Chair
ICCR has established an 'India Chair' at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent, to reach out to more Uzbek youth.
