To disseminate lndian art, culture and philosophy through literature, the founder President of ICCR, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, gifted his collection of approx. 10,000 books in Arabic, Persian, Urdu and other languages to the Council. This rare collection of books & manuscripts has been housed in a special enclosure'Gosha-e-Azad' in the lCCR.Gosha-e-Azad also includes about 197 rare manuscripts in Arabic, Urdu and Persian language, some of which apart from their intrrnsic value, also carry the hallmark of the antiquity. Presently, the Council is in the process of Digitization of this collection of rare manuscripts. 197 Manuscripts in Arabic, Urdu and Persian are under process of documentation, conservation and digitization by National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM ICCR has also prepared an annotated catalogue of Urdu, Arabic and Persian books from Maulana Azad's personal collection.
