Outgoing Cultural Delegations

The primary mandate of the Council is to create international understanding through culture. To meet this objective, the Council showcases quality performing artiste/groups in countries across the world so that the people get to see and understand the diversity and the vibrancy of India’s performing art forms like classical, folk, theater, modern dance and music etc. These groups are sent within the ambit of India’s Cultural Exchange Programme with different countries as well as outside it. Artists have traveled abroad from every corner of India during the past six decades. The ICCR has sent thousands of cultural troupes across the globe, apart from organizing Cultural Weeks and Festivals dedicated to a specific country or region. On average, more than 160 groups have been traveling abroad in the last few years. The Council prides in having sent great masters, living legends as well as young and promising artists. This is a great way to showcase India’s enduring and vibrant culture and its incredible diversity.

Major Festivals : Participation of ICCR

Cervantino Festival :

The ICCR has been sending Cultural groups for participation in the Cervantino International Festival (hyperlink of photographs) held annually in Mexico. The organizers of the Cervantino Festival had invited India to be the Guest of Honor country. The ICCR had sent 10 cultural groups from various genres for participation in the Festival from 10-28 October 2018. DG, ICCR, Smt. Riva Ganguly Das represented ICCR, Government of India at the inaugural ceremony. India’s participation was a resounding success. Janadriyah – the annual National Heritage and Cultural Festival :

India was the Guest of Honour country at the Janadriya Festival. President, ICCR, Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe represented ICCR, Government of India at the inauguration of the National Heritage & Cultural Festival – Janadriya (hyperlink of photographs) organized in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 7-28 February 2018. ICCR sponsored 11 cultural groups to the Festival representing various regions of India. Photographs of the performances can be seen on hyper link, which will open on separate page.

Bhutan :

To celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Indo-Bhutan Diplomatic Relations (hyperlink of photographs), the ICCR has sent 06 groups so far from January – December 2018 for the celebrations.

The ICCR will also be sending a cultural component to participate in the closing ceremony to be held during December 2018.

Nepal :

One of the major presentations was performed by Tabla Maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain with his accompanying artists on 27 November 2018 on the occasion of “70 Years of India-Nepal Diplomatic Ties” (hyperlink of photographs) in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Forthcoming Events :

ICCR proposes to sponsor many cultural groups in the coming months for participation in some important events like “Glimpses of India Festival” (Egypt), “SEA Festival” (Cambodia), “Tiranga Festival” (Senegal) on the occasion of Republic Day & Holi Utsav celebrations.

Since the inception of the ICCR, the work of sending Indian cultural troupes abroad has been the mainstay of it's work. These cultural troupes are sent both within the ambit of India's Cultural Exchange Programmes with different countries and outside it. Artists have traveled abroad from every corner of India to show India's classical, folk. village and modern dances and music. Great masters have traveled as have young and promising artists. They have seen the world and have shown India to the world.

These photographs are related to the “Cervantino International Festival” held in Mexico from 10 to 28th October, 2018. India has been participating regularly in this Festival since last many years by sponsoring renowned groups to this Festival. This year India had participated in this Festival as guest of honour country and sponsored 10 cultural groups from various fields.

These photographs are related to the “Celebrations of 50th year of establishment of Diplomatic relations India & Bhutan” held in Bhutan from January to December 2018.

These photographs are related to the “Janadriyah – the annual National Heritage and Cultural Festival” held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 7 – 28 February 2018. 11 cultural groups from various fields have been participated during the above festival.
